Spearfish Canyon (South Dakota) – In Another Minute (Week 229)

The scenic byway through Spearfish Canyon in the Black Hills of South Dakota offers views of majestic rock walls, Ponderosa and Spruce forests, the Spearfish Creek and several waterfalls, namely Bridal Veil Falls, Roughlock Falls and Spearfish Falls.

Driving through Spearfish Canyon (during week 228, actually) continued our, unexpectedly spiritual, road trip through Wyoming and South Dakota with the special request from a friend to return a Condor feather, once provided by a healer, to the canyon in the Black Hills. We made the quest to find the right place along the Spearfish Creek our own and, at least I, felt very connected to the land and the energy of all the people who have made their life and their quests in these hills. It was a transforming journey. And if you seek such a healing experience, let me recommend exploring Spearfish canyon… maybe you’ll even find the Condor feather…

Around Spearfish Canyon, you can find the towns of Spearfish, Deadwood, Lead and Sturgis. Besides beautiful vistas, there is a lot of Old West history here (like the graves of Wild Bill Hikock and Calamity Jane) and many people traveling on Harley’s.
